J's Teriyaki & Sushi

First time here! Great service. The food was hot and fresh. The only downfalls were the Crab Rangoon's. They were a bit on the thick and doughy side. Not a fan of how they folded these ones. The only other thing is the receipt states 5 pieces with the sesame balls, but you only get 3 per order! The spicy chicken could be spicier. You get plenty of food with your order. Everything was really good. It is good enough to look forward to coming back when we are through Salem. They will always be a plus in my book since my favorite item is the sesame balls. These ones seem to be made differently than the rest of the ones we have had. They were not overly greasy or doughy! For us they were perfect little balls of goodness! :)

Food was fantastic, had a talk with the owner about the extra spicy option and decided to give it a shot. I have to say that this is literally the only place I have ever been to, especially in Salem, where the extra spicy is in fact adding a next level experience. However make sure you're used to extremely spicy stuff before attempting! I'll also touch on the fact that even while being extremely spicy, there was a nice flavor too. Definitely will be bringing some friends that like extremely spicy food to try it out.

Used to come to J’s all the time with my co-workers a few years ago. Tonight I decided to order food for my family and was in the area so I ordered the Salem roll we always got with my co-workers. I was VERY disappointed. First my order took 40 mins to get done… I little understandable since it was a Friday night but after I received my food and saw the size of the Salem roll I was shocked I paid $12.95 each roll. I was okay paying that because when I used to get it in the past it was huge so to me it was worth it… the rolls were super hard and burnt. I feel ripped off. I spent almost $60 on food that didn’t even fill my family up. I will not be going back.

Every aspect of our experience at J’s Teriyaki has been truly delightful. The clean, uncluttered, and inviting interior, the warm and friendly service, and the delicious menu all blend perfectly for a dining experience worth repeating. The menu is fresh and very tasty! (The proprietors apparently make the marinades and sauces themselves, and they clearly know how to do them right!) The salad and house dressing is crisp and perfectly sized. The gyoza is crispy and light, not chewy or dull. The sushi is perfectly presented, portioned, and presented. The ribs, beef, and chicken each have their own marinades and sauces, which complement their flavors very well. All in all, if you are looking for fresh, delicious, Japanese-style cuisine in a friendly environment, do yourself a favor and stop in at this hidden gem. P.S.: If you like things spicy, be sure to ask for J’s special *extra hot* sauce! It’s only for the brave, but it is a treat! (Fortunately, J’s has mochi ice cream available in case the heat gets too painful! 🥵) P.P.S.: The prices are also very reasonable! I’ve paid much more for poorer quality food and experience elsewhere…just one more reason I’ll be returning here.
